Costume Drama~Welcome to Sungkyunkwan!!

Speaking of costume dramas, we may think of Dae Jang Geum(大長今), Yi San(李祘), Dong Yi(同伊)...all of them are highly recommended and praised. However, you need lots of patience and time to finish those dramas because there are 'countless' episodes. Therefore, I want to share a short costume drama, Sungkyunkwan Scandal(成均館緋聞), which is my favorite costume drama, with you~
Sungkyunkwan is a school, which only allows men to study in, in ancient Korea. Kim Yun-Hee, the main female character, is a clever woman. In order to take care of her sick brother and poor family, she had to make a living in some inappropriate ways, such as disguising herself as a man to “help” the man pass the exam. However, she got caught on the spot by Lee Seon-Joon, the main character. Without knowing Kim was a woman, he persuaded Kim to learn in Sungkyunkwan and show 'his' talent. After a-long-time hesitation, Kim decided to disguise herself as a man to study in the Sungkyunkwan.
In Sungkyunkwan, the men's world, Kim had to be like a man and at the same time, be care of the secret being exposed. There, she met Moon Jae-Sin, one of her roommates(the other is Lee Seon-Joon). Moon was called “Crazy Horse” at school because he had an extremely bad temper! Interestingly, only Moon discovered Kim's identity, and he always protected Kim secretly. Another impressive character is Ku Yong-Ha, which my favorite idol, Song Joong-Ki, stared. Ku was a charming man, who was surrounded by the women all the time. At the first time he met Kim, he guessed Kim was a woman by his instinct.

There are many fun things happening in Sungkyunkwan. You can enjoy this “four” handsome guys' friendship and love in this costume drama~ Hope you like it <3!!

"Hanbok"? What's that?

Hanbok is Korean traditional clothes. Nowadays, Koreans wear Hanbok only on the specific festivals, such as New Year, or on the important ceremonies, like weddings. In the past, there were many kinds of Hanboks from the royal to the civilians. In Korea, the class(階級) and the age are significant. Therefore, it is simple to understand the identities of different Koreans from their clothes. For example, if you see a Korean wearing the glorious, shiny, beautiful Hanbok with countless accessories, he or she may belong to the upper class.

Although there are various kinds of Hanboks, we can find all of them have similarities. For females, whether she is a queen or a civilian, Hanbok includes a short jacket and a long skirt. Besides, some of female Hanboks have another cloth in front of the jacket, especially for queens, servants and doctors in the palace, and so on. On the other hand, for males, the skirt is replaced with the trousers.

Many pictures and videos are provided. Take a look, and compare with one another~

Yum~yum~~Korean Food!!!

Since Korea is located in Temperate Zone(溫帶), four distinct seasons diversify its food. There are several delicacies which you won't taste now but know more about below:

1. Appetizer : Koreans love to make the dining table full of small dishes. However, it doesn't mean appetizers are the main characters. Instead, Koreans enjoy eating rice better than the appetizers.

2. Kimchi : Kimchi is an indispensable food in Koreans' daily life! Before the winter, each family would make Kimchi, which is the most important housework yearly.

3. Spicy Ricecake : It's really freezing cold in Korea during the winter. Therefore, spicy food is a must to get them “hot”. Not only Kimchi but also spicy ricecake is one of Koreans' good snacks.

4. Stone Pot Bibimbap : Bibimbap(拌飯) looks colorful and tasty before you eat. Since the farmers were busy and had little time to have meals, it was convenient to put many ingredients with different colors to keep them balanced diets.

5. Copper barbecue : Barbecue makes everyone mouth-watering!! Koreans love to dip the sauce and wrap the meat with lettuce. Have a Big Bite! How wonderful!!!

6. Seaweed Soup : It's special to have seaweed soup on Koreans' birthday! Since their moms would eat nutritious seaweed soup after giving a baby, Koreans will remember mom's efforts and hard work by having this soup on their birthday.

Actually, there are still tons of Korean cuisines I want to show you. Nonetheless, in case that you may feel extremely hungry and eat the computer, I stop here. I hope you can try Korean food if you get the opportunity.
